Q1How is the outer fabric made?
How to tell

Pull the fabric gently on the diagonal. Knit fabric stretches and springs back; woven fabric barely moves. If the jacket mixes both, customs looks at which part gives the garment its essential character. In ruling N352319, CBP classified a jacket with knit front panels as woven because the woven fabric gave it its essential character.

Q2What is the main fiber of the outer shell?
How to tell

Use the fiber that weighs the most in the outer shell, as on the care label. 88% polyester / 12% elastane counts as synthetic.
